Following hours of food bingeing over a livestream, an extreme eater d!ed in front of appalled viewers.
On July 14, while eating and livestreaming, Pan Xiaoting, 24, passed away.
The former waitress had a “deformed” stomach full of “undigested food,” according to an autopsy, Times Now says.
Despite advice from her parents and well-wishers, Xiaoting allegedly ate around 10 kg of food during her up to 10-hour livestreams.
Tragic events occurred while the Chinese influencer was participating in a live stream on Mukbang.
In mukbang videos, the hosts engage in real-time conversation with the viewers while consuming enormous amounts of food.
According to China News, Xiaoting was well-known for her lengthy films.
She had even been admitted to the hospital previously for gastrointestinal bleeding, yet she had persisted in eating recklessly and livestreaming it.
She was referred to as “literally a victim of gluttony” by one user on social media as the incident brought attention to the risks associated with performing extraordinary feats for internet fame.
Some have also questioned the purpose of taking up these tasks.
China implemented laws in 2020 to prohibit overindulgence in Mukbang content, and streamers who disobey the laws risk fines.
