Following reports that she choked on her lunch, an Olympic cyclist was discovered dead in her flat.
Daniela Larreal Chirinos, a former athlete, had not shown up at the hotel where she worked when worried coworkers called the police.
When police arrived at her Las Vegas flat on Friday, August 16, they discovered her body inside, according to Mail Online.
Her coworkers contacted authorities on August 12, suggesting that she may have passed away on August 11.
The investigation’s insiders claim that Larreal, 50, passed away from asphyxiation.
Solid food remnants were reportedly discovered in her windpipe during the post-mortem investigation, indicating that she had choked to death.
Police have not yet formally confirmed the cause of death, though.
