I promise never to back Governor Fubara in a political capacity again, I would neither back Obaseki – Wike

The outgoing governor of Rivers State expressed his displeasure with Governor Fubara and charged him of disseminating false information about him. Wike made it plain that he would no longer support the incumbent governor of Rivers State, but he did not go into depth about the claims.

Ahead of the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Wike also made a startling statement in the same interview. He pledged to oppose both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee Asue Ighodalo, who is backed by incumbent Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Obaseki himself.

During the interview, Wike called Governor Obaseki “an ingrate”. His rejection of Ighodalo’s candidature raises the possibility of growing PDP rifts ahead of the Edo State election.
