Three weeks prior to her discovery in a trash site, 21-year-old Awesu Mojisola Oluwafunmike, a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, celebrated her sign-out.
Before going missing on August 9, 2024, she shared pictures and videos from her sign-out ceremony.
Prof. Anifowose Olamilekan, a lecturer in Kwara, reported that the mother of the deceased is a janitor for the Ogun State Waste Management Agency.
The deceased received a call on 9 August from a woman named Miss Timileyin, who told her about an event planned by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin, according to a report by her flatmate, Miss Blessing O.
Mojisola was introduced by Miss Timileyin to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a Summit University student, who allegedly asked her to the nightclub on the guise of pretending to be his girlfriend in exchange for fifteen thousand naira (#15,000.00).
When Miss Mojisola arrived in Ilorin, she told her housemate that she didn’t feel comfortable at the hotel where Adebayo Happiness had booked her stay, and that there wasn’t a party going on.
Her phone was turned off shortly after this conversation, and Miss Blessing was unable to get in touch with her again.
The body was discovered dumped in a refuse site near Aleniboro area Ilorin, Kwara State, by a group of labourers, who told Olorunoje, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, while he was returning home from the mosque on August 11, 2024, according to DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, who spoke with the police about the incident at approximately 7.30 on August 12, 2024.
Ejire-Adeyemi said that a squad of detectives was sent to the location right away after receiving this complaint. She claimed that after arriving, the scene was closely scrutinised and documented.
The police spokeswoman stated that during the preliminary inquiry, blood traces were discovered next to the deceased person’s left ear, who was subsequently identified as Mojisola.
