A guy calling himself “God on earth” faces an £8 million lawsuit from former Temple supporters who allege they were sexually assaulted by him.
At a temple in Coventry, UK, Rajinder Kalia, 68, is charged with molesting four women and girls as young as four.
Four of his former followers are suing him, claiming their former leader exercised “undue influence” by raping and groping them. He is accused of using Baba Balak Nath, a small offshoot of Hinduism, for his own self-serving goals.
Kalia started preaching in the UK, the High Court was informed, following his involvement in a bicycle accident in his childhood in India.
After visiting Himachal Pradesh, a place connected to the Hindu deity Baba Balak Nath, he “miraculously” recovered the ability to walk.
He is said to have started brainwashing his followers into thinking he is “an incarnation of God and/or the divine” after opening his own temple in 1986.”This is an unusual case, where the claimants allege that they were subjected to Mr. Kalia’s charismatic and forceful personality for decades,” stated Mark Jones, the attorney for the seven claims.
He pretended to do miracles in order to present himself as the incarnation of God.
“It was overruled that the claimants may voluntarily accept to his demands for monetary and sexual advantages. They were unable to withstand.”
A woman allegedly broke down in tears as she described to the judge how, in the 22 years after becoming a single mother and joined the church, she had been raped at least 1,320 times. She stated that Kalia had informed her that his “abhorrent” sexual perversions were “similar to the relationships enjoyed by the Hindu deity Krishna.”
According to a second purported victim, Kalia started torturing her when she was 13 and took her virginity in a hotel when she was 21.She informed the court that she had received threats with acid after calling the police and being mistakenly detained for abusing children.
Another woman claims she was groped from the age of 13 and also had her virginity taken by Kalia, while a fourth alleges she was inappropriately kissed from age four.Others claim they were fleeced into sending Kalia money – including one who paid £5,000 to “cure her dog’s cancer”.
Kalia lives in a £1.1million mansion with his wife. He denies all the allegations.
