Investigators now have a complete transcript of the cockpit audio from the Voepass ATR 72 twin-engine turboprop that crashed last week in the city of Vinhedo. The two-hour recording shows the co-pilot noticed a steep loss of altitude about a minute before the crash, according to TV Globo.
He then asked the pilot what was going on and said the aircraft needed “more power” to be stabilised. These are the last words from the pilots heard on the black box recording of a Brazilian plane that crashed, killing all 62 people on board.
Regarding the information in the TV Globo broadcast, Brazil’s Cenipa Air Accident Investigation Centre remained silent.
The aircraft, an ATR-72 turboprop, crashed at roughly 1:30 pm in Vinhedo, about 50 miles northwest of Sao Paulo. It was travelling from Cascavel, in the southern state of Parana, to Sao Paulo.
All those on board perished in the disaster, although nobody on the ground was injured.
Social media footage captured the aircraft tumbling out of control and launching a massive cloud of black smoke into the sky as it crashed behind a stand of trees close to some homes.
