Bobrisky was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while he was leaving the country, according to confirmation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Dele Oyewale, the commission’s spokeswoman, told LIB in an interview that the crossdresser was detained in connection with the allegations he made in an audio recording of a conversation with a male acquaintance that social critic Very Dark Man published in October.
A guy posing as Bobrisky stated in the audio exchange that he paid the EFCC N15 million to get the money laundering allegations against him dropped early this year.
According to Oyewale, Bobrisky was taken into custody in order to assist with the investigation of the alleged bribery in the audio tape. He claimed that Bobrisky was asked to be questioned after the release of the audio but he refused to show up, forcing the agency to arrest him.
Bobrisky has however denied being the person heard in the audio tape.
