In Opu-Okumbiri, Bayelsa State, an endangered leatherback sea turtle was reintroduced into the ocean by the Akassa Clan.
The turtle, which was more than five feet long, got entangled in a fisherman’s net. He notified the Safe Earth Foundation staff, and they immediately took action.
Less than 40,000 leatherback sea turtles are thought to remain in the globe.
