Former Premier League star, Ronnie Stam was arrested for smuggling two tonnes of cocaine while under investigation for alleged money laundering.

Ronnie Stam, a former star of the Premier League, is on trial for allegedly transporting two tonnes of cocaine.

In addition, the former Dutch right-back is under investigation for possible money laundering.

Furthermore, a prosecution described him as a “major player in the drugs world.”

Stam was detained in June on suspicion of narcotics crimes in 2021 and 2022, according to The Sun. Since then, he’s been placed on remand.

On Thursday, Stam was found to have been involved in the trafficking of 2,217 kilogrammes of cocaine by a Breda court.

“This case concerns hundreds of kilogrammes of cocaine each time,” the prosecution stated at the hearing. I argue that Stam was a significant figure in the drug trade.

Stam was not present in court to hear his charges.

As part of the inquiry, police raided six residences and a camper trailer in June. They discovered £85k in currency. The cash, three homes, a yacht, three vehicles, six expensive watches, and jewellery were all taken by the police.

On November 28, he has to appear before a judge.
