When animals from the Borno State zoo were destroyed by flooding, a massive tortoise was discovered walking about freely in Maiduguri.
Locals flocked to catch a glimpse and take phone videos as up to five guys are seen carrying the heavy tortoise in a video that has been circulated online.
The tortoise weighed so much that its carriers had difficulty lifting it and maintaining a firm grip on it for extended periods of time.
It was discovered earlier this week that Maiduguri, Borno State, saw the worst flooding in recent memory as a result of a dam breaking owing to excessive rain.
While some creatures, such crocodiles and snakes, swam into residential areas, many animals died in the zoo.
