After confessing that he had been urinating and defecating in his bedroom to protest his wife’s purported deprivation of conjugal rights, a Zimbabwean man surprised the courtroom.
When Maclaren Nduri expressed his annoyance to the court, he said that his wife, Berita Mutero, had refused intimacy ever since she began working in Mbare. He believes this change is related to her suspected affair with another guy.
He disclosed that Nduri’s actions were an act of revenge for what he perceives to be neglect. He admitted to the judge that Mutero had previously reported him, which resulted in a 30-day jail term for domestic abuse. Nduri remarked, “This has been going on for a while, and I can’t forgive her for putting me through this.”
More unsettling behaviour was revealed by Mutero, who claimed that Nduri attacks her and burns her clothing in vengeance for her rejection in addition to urinating in their bedroom. She declared, “I am fed up with my husband’s actions.” “He occasionally relieves himself in a bucket and leaves it in the bedroom for days at a time.”
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga, presiding over the case, recommended that the couple seek professional marital counseling to address their issues.
