In the early hours of September 9, gunmen stormed the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, kidnapping a number of patients as well as two nurses.
The adjacent Government Day Secondary School was the bandits’ first objective when they allegedly arrived on Monday at around 9:00 am, but they discovered it to be vacant. A local vigilante group leader named Musa Alhassan said that the gunmen then turned their attention to the medical facility
“They came looking for students, but when they discovered the school was vacant, they went straight to the health centre and began abducting people,” he said
Witnesses stated that the assailants, who included two female nurses among their victims, generated widespread fear while carrying pistols and machetes. It is unknown how many patients were kidnapped in total.
It should be noted that Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a physician who has been held captive by bandits for several months, has still not been released.
The state administration or the state police command has not yet responded to this development.
