Sixteen years after her disappearance, a man in South Korea has admitted to murdering his lover and concealing her body in cement.
The man, who is in his 50s, informed the local police that during an argument at his flat in the southern city of Geoje, he struck the woman with a blunt weapon. After that, he put her de@d body in a suitcase and buried it on his balcony beneath a layer of cement and bricks.
According to local media, it was overlooked until last month, in August 2024, when a maintenance worker came across it while drilling.
Through fingerprint examination, the body—which had been partially preserved by the suitcase—was recognised as belonging to the missing woman.
She had died from blunt force injuries to the head, according to an autopsy.
The man, who the police are referring to as Mr A, was swiftly located and taken into custody even though he was not residing in the flat when the death was found.
He claimed to the authorities that he had been living in the Geoje studio flat with the woman for almost five years when, during an argument in October 2008, he struck her with a blunt weapon. He then used a small third-floor balcony that was only accessible from one of the bedrooms to bury the suitcase with her remains beneath a layer of cement and bricks.
