Worshippers describe their suffering as the Christ Embassy Headquarters is gutted by fire.

…Lagos govt probes mysterious inferno
…We’ll build a better, bigger church —Oyakhilome

Worshippers and members of Love World International, also known as Christ Embassy, are sharing their experiences in the wake of yesterday’s unexplained fire that destroyed the church headquarters’ main auditorium and administration complex in Oregun, Lagos State.

At the time of this report, the reason behind the fire that destroyed the church’s ground floor and left it fully destroyed was still a mystery.

Unverified sources, however, attributed the occurrence to a power surge from the electrical equipment.

According to Chinonso, a church member, the reason the fire did not result in any casualties was because the church conducted its one-week programme, which was supposed to conclude with a celebration ceremony at the Asese Camp Ground.

“I thank God that no one was inside the church when the incident began,” he uttered. During the service, we were notified about the event at the Toyin Street, Ikeja branch of the church. On social media, we witnessed the burning of our headquarters building. Even though we were in tears, we were grateful that no one was hurt or killed.

Jude, a different member, disclosed that the church had water hydrant equipment and qualified firefighters on hand in case of an emergency.

Onyinyechi Elizabeth, a different participant, added, “It was not an ordinary fire.” It was an attack from above. We found it hard to accept that this atrocity would occur here. At work, it is an enemy. Why hasn’t it occurred for the entire time? To bring about a setback. That is a significant loss.

Another participant, Chibuke Chukwu, added, “It is awful.” We praise God that no lives were lost even though it was unexpected. The best is known to God. All of the top pastors are with Pastor Chris as he participates in a programme at Asese at the moment.

Henry Egbuna, a bystander and Household of God member, related his personal account of the incident, stating, “When I saw the fire in the morning, I thought it was a tyre that was burning.” I was surprised to see firefighters responding to the site. However, other churchgoers blocked their access to the building. They then entered through a second door, which was an event hall next to the church that required a ladder to enter the church.

Oyakhilome speaks

On his part, the President of Love World International also known as Christ Embassy, Reverend Chris Oyakhilome, urged members of the church not to worry over the incident, saying “We built that with what we know, imagine what we are going to do with what we know now. When things like this happen do not be moved.

When something like this happens, God gives us an opportunity to build a better one and a more beautiful one.“We must look at life from the spiritual, this is not an accident. We are going to do something better “
